Traditional Acupuncture & Massage

Ruth is a professional member of the British Acupuncture Council (MBAcC) and has been a traditional Chinese Medicine (tCM) acupuncturist for over 10 years.   She began her training at the International College of Oriental Medicine (ICOM) East Grinstead and completed it at the Northern College of Acupuncture, York.

Her initial degree in philosophy ignited a passion for thinking outside the box and she has always been interested in exploring alternatives and options.  Teaching, her first career, was cut short by chronic eczema. Like many or her patients, Ruth turned to acupuncture as a last resort and has never looked back.  Her eczema cleared and she embarked on her 4 year intensive training as an acupuncturist.

Ruth’s tCM acupuncture treatments may incorporate deep tissue massage, acupressure, tui na and other tCM techniques such as cupping, gua sha, moxibustion (moxa) and electro-acupuncture to ensure the best effects for her patients. Ruth is the founder and manager of Carlisle Therapies which she opened in 2012.

More information can be found about her acupuncture and other treatments on her professional website Acupuncture Cumbria.
